Excessive Sweat Treatment

Introduction

Even though it’s completely normal, unexpected sweating can create embarrassing situations. It can ruin dates and business meetings, stain clothes, and cause general discomfort. In some more severe cases, there can have serious practical consequences as well, making it hard for people who suffer from it to hold a pen, grip a car steering wheel, or shake hands.

Haute Beauty Aesthetics is located in the Northern Dallas area in Fairview, TX between Allen, Texas, and McKinney, TX. Our Excessive Sweat treatment patients come from all over the surrounding North Dallas metropolitan areas to help them stay dry when they want to be.

What is Excessive Sweat Treatment?

Frequently Asked Questions

Excessive sweating, also called Hyperhidrosis, is a disorder that affects many men and women all over the world, but despite its commonality, it can produce a lot of unhappiness. Hyperhidrosis can exist in the underarms (axillary hyperhidrosis), which can start in late adolescence, or in the palms and soles of the feet (palmoplantar hyperhidrosis), which typically begins around 13 years old. If left untreated, these problems can continue throughout life.

When BOTOX® is injected just below the surface of the skin, it temporarily blocks the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for “turning on” the body’s sweat glands. By blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger, botulinum toxin “turns off” sweating in the area where it has been injected.

What are the benefits of Excessive Sweat Treatment?

Research demonstrates that treating excessive sweating of the armpits, hands, feet, head, and face (craniofacial), and other relatively small body areas (like under the breasts) with neurotoxin is safe and effective. When used to treat excessive sweating of the underarms, neurotoxin has been shown to result in an 82-87% decrease in sweating. Results start to be noticeable approximately 2 to 4 days after treatment with the full effects usually noted within 2 weeks. Dryness typically lasts 4 to 12 months, but some studies have found it can last as long as 14 months. Additional statistics from published research studies have shown that repeated treatment with BOTOX® is safe and effective for hyperhidrosis and consistently results in meaningful, long-lasting improvements in an excessive sweating patient’s symptoms, daily functioning, and quality of life.

BOTOX® treatment for hyperhidrosis has also been scientifically proven to improve on-the-job productivity. While sweating is an essential body function for temperature control, localized body areas house only a small percentage of the body’s sweat glands (the underarms, for instance, are home to less than 2% of the body’s sweat glands.) The temporary cessation of these sweat glands’ functioning, therefore, has little to do with body thermoregulation. Compensatory sweating (sweating on other body parts) is not a concern.

What’s the first step?

If you live in the Northern Dallas area and feel that BOTOX® injections can help your excessive sweating, the first step is to schedule your consultation with us, and we will be able to assess your sweating situation. During this appointment, you will also be able to learn more about how the treatment works and will need to discuss your medical history and what methods you have tried to fix your issues with sweating. It is important to be honest when discussing your medical history and the medication you are taking so that any potential risks can be avoided, or at least kept to a minimum.

If you agree with the evaluation and plan that is created for you, then you will be able to schedule your session with our Patient Coordinator. When you set the date for your treatment, you will also be given a pricing sheet as well as any instructions to follow, such as avoiding shaving your underarms or taking blood thinner medication.

What to Expect on the Day of Excessive Sweat Treatment

When you come into our office to receive your BOTOX® injections for Excessive Sweating, we will begin by marking your skin at strategic points to guide the injection. Depending on what is discussed during your consultation, you may have ice packs applied or be given a numbing agent to help with any pain or discomfort.

The BOTOX® medication is injected with a fine needle just below the surface of your skin. You’ll receive between 15 to 20 injections (could possibly be more) in the form of a grid pattern.

The injection portion of your treatment should only take about 20 to 30 minutes, however, you should expect the entire appointment to last about 45 minutes in total.

What is the downtime with this treatment?

Once you are finished with your injections and are given the OK to leave, you will be able to resume your normal activities immediately.

You will need to schedule a follow-up appointment so that we will be able to monitor your progress and see how you are responding to the injections.

How Much Does Excessive Sweat Treatment Cost in Allen & Frisco, TX?

The cost of Excessive Sweat Treatment using BOTOX® injections in the North Dallas area will vary greatly depending on your needs and if you require treatment in multiple areas of your body. There are some instances in which certain insurance companies will cover either all or at least part of the treatment for those suffering from hyperhidrosis, but usually requires proof that other options, such as prescription antiperspirants, have been tried first.

To learn more about the cost of this treatment, we recommend scheduling a consultation without an expert. When we fully understand what you will need for your treatment, we will be able to give you a breakdown sheet.

Jennifer is sweet, knowledgeable, and incredibly talented. She has been working on maintaining a balance on my face to ensure I age gracefully. I also started bringing my mother who had never had any neurotoxins and Jennifer was so informative/educational.
Jenn has been fantastic to provide a plan for helping turn back the clock and her treatments have been more effective than similar treatments I tried by other providers.
Jennifer was very professional, she gave me a detailed consultation and was articulate in her execution of our mutually agreed upon treatment plan.
